It probably was a refreshing change that one would have
craved for since last two seasons of the Fashion Week! A name big enough to be
eligible for finale and a brand, strong enough to live up-to the hype!
Ritu
Kumar, provided just that!
Recreating the magic and simplicity of Art Deco, the foremost design movements of the of the 1930s in art, fashion and architecture, the collection exemplifies a mastery of graphics with its trademark aesthetic message that promises to suit both, Indian and European market.
Split into two parts, Ritu Kumar - Label was followed by Ritu Kumar Couture that oozed every essence of craftsmanship one would want to see in a finale show.
Dropped waists, bold forms and delicate embroideries were juxtaposed with modern techniques and shaping, while the usage of fabrics like silks in chiffon, crepe and twill brought out the best of bold and radiating colors with treatments like serigraphy and lithography.
With all due respect to the every finale that I have been an attendee of, this one by far outshined all of them purely because of its rich hues and fine finishing, that could only come with the signature Ritu Kumar style.

Ritu Kumar Couture drew inspiration from the romance of the
1930’s, Indian Freedom
Movement and the colonial era that helped the designer
play with rich tapestries, laces, brocades and embroideries to carry the
vintage mood of the previous segment but in its Indian avatar.
The collection ended with a regal collection of gold,
black and jeweled ensembles reminiscent of the India of the mid 20th century
with its Baroque influences and distinctive style of Indo European fashion.
